Founder

Dr. Clark graduated from the University of Texas Medical Branch in 1986 and completed his orthopedic training there in 1991. He worked with E. Marlowe Goble as an arthroscopy and sports medicine fellow in Logan, Utah through January of 1992. Since then he has been in private practice in Utah and Indiana, where he currently resides. He as been a major contributor to the development of ACL fixation techniques and holds multiple patents in this area. As a scientist and author he has written several scientific papers, made scores of podium presentations, and because he is fluent in Spanish, he is world recognized for his teaching abilities. His greatest love is innovation for novel technology and together with Mark Morrison he founded VOT in January 2005. Dr. Clark has licensed technology to several orthopedic companies including Arthrex, Arthrotek, Medicine Lodge, and DePuy Orthotech. With several novel technologies currently under development, Dr. Clark looks forward to expanding care for patients with bone and joint disorders.

Hans Stover, President & CEO Hans Stover
President & Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Stover joined the company on March 12th 2007 as President and CEO. He grew up in Holland and received a BSEE degree there before coming to the U.S. in 1986 where he earned an MSEE degree at Polytechnic University of New York and subsequently an MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management. Mr. Stover has worked in the medical device business his entire career for innovative and successful companies like Honeywell, Nellcor, Puritan Bennett and Mallinckrodt. He served as President for Welch Allyn Protocol where he grew the company significantly through product development and acquisitions. Most recently he was Chief Executive Officer for Access Point Medical, a start-up company in the Home Medical Device industry with manufacturing facilities in China and a direct sales and marketing organization in the U.S. He launched over 100 products in the first two years at Access Point Medical and created brand recognition within the Home Medical Industry while growing the company significantly.

David M. Blakemore, VP of Engineering & Chief Science Officer David M. Blakemore

Mr. Blakemore joined VOT full time in April 2007 as the engineering lead for newly developed products and as an officer of the company. After receiving his BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University he worked as a NASA Astronaut Office lead test engineer for the Space Shuttle program. In 1995 he took a position in R&D at Zimmer Orthopaedics. At Zimmer he held positions of increasing responsibility and directed activities for the Bio-Mechanical and Anatomical Testing Laboratories as well as serving on knee, hip, shoulder and trauma development teams. His duties also included design, development and testing of new technologies and manufacturing processes. He has served on ASTM subcommittees, holds several orthopedic device and manufacturing patents and is published in the areas of orthopedic materials, devices and evaluation techniques. He is an accomplished R&D engineering manager with over 11 years of experience in device development and testing in the orthopedic industry.

Tom Carter, VP Sales & Marketing Tom Carter

Mr. Carter joined the company in March 2007 as the marketing and distribution leader. Mr. Carter received a BS in Health Care Management from Southern Illinois University and a MHA from St. Louis University. Mr. Carter has worked for Amerinet and Mallinckrodt in St. Louis, before joining Zimmer as Global Brand Manager. He most recently served as Director of Marketing for Access Point Medical where he launched over 100 products to the Home Medical Industry. Tom brings over 10 years of medical device marketing experience in roles of increasing responsibility.

Ron Clark, M.D.
Dr. Clark founded the company in 2005 and currently serves as Chairman of the Board and Chief Medical Officer. After completing medical school and residency training in orthopedics at the University of Texas, he studied advanced surgical techniques with E. Marlowe Goble, M.D. in Utah before starting his practice there. Dr. Clark is a creator of new technology and has authored nine U.S. patents. He has performed scientific studies and published over eighteen articles in medical journals and periodicals. He is a recognized lecturer and teacher of other orthopedic surgeons and has made over fifty presentations in six different countries. Dr. Clark has licensed his technology and been a paid consultant to a number of orthopedic device companies and is recognized in the industry for his creativity and integrity. He currently practices at the South Bend Clinic in Indiana.

Hans Stover
Mr. Stover joined the company as President & CEO in March of 2007. He has more than 20 years experience in the medical device industry with innovative and successful companies such as Honeywell, Nellcor, Puritan-Bennett and Mallinckrodt where he served in various leadership roles in engineering, marketing and general management. He served as President of Welch Allyn Protocol where he grew the company significantly through product development and acquisitions. Most recently he served as CEO of Access Point Medical, a start-up company in the home medical device industry with manufacturing facilities in China and a marketing and sales organization in the U.S. Hans received a BSEE degree in Holland, an MSEE from Polytechnic University of New York and an MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management.

Brian Emerick
Mr. Emerick is an experienced and successful entrepreneur. Mr. Emerick has been involved in leadership positions in 3 successful medical ventures and 2 successful manufacturing ventures and is currently the CEO of Micropulse, Inc., a manufacturer of spinal and orthopedic implants, instruments and delivery systems for many of the leading companies in the orthopedic industry. Mr. Emerick founded Micropulse in 1988 and is the sole owner of the company which employs over 145 people. In 1994, he co-founded Micropulse West, Inc. in Tempe, Arizona which was successfully sold in 2004 through a leveraged management buy-out. Mr. Emerick was also the Chairman of DVO, LLC, an orthopedic implant venture in Warsaw, Indiana where he recently oversaw its sale to Tornier. Brian holds an MBA from Notre Dame, studied Mechanical Engineering Technology at Indiana-Purdue University in Fort Wayne, Indiana and Marketing at Indiana Wesleyan University. He holds the designations of Certified Financial Manager and Certified Management Accountant from the Institute of Management Accountants. He is a board member of the Parkview Whitley Hospital in Columbia City, Indiana, and member of the Technical Assistance Program Advisory Board at Purdue University. Mr. Emerick is also a member of the advisory board for Ortho Pediatrics, a new start-up venture in Warsaw, Indiana.

Rod Mayer
Mr. Mayer co-founded DVO Extremity Solutions LLC, on January 1, 2004 and served as the Chief Executive Officer and as a Director of the Company. Mr. Mayer has a twenty eight year history in the orthopaedic industry focused primarily in Sales, Distribution and Business Development. He began his career with DePuy in 1977. In 1985 Mr. Mayer was awarded the Indiana distributorship building an independent agency that grew from $580,000 in sales to nearly $11,000,000 in 1994. This agency received numerous sales performance awards, including Distributor of the Year in 1991. Mr. Mayer served four consecutive two year terms on the Depuy President's Advisory Board. During this period, he also founded Lake City Medical an instrument manufacturing and repair company and served as its President. From 1994 to 2003, Mr. Mayer served in various management roles including Business Development Director for DePuy ProSource, Regional Sales Manager for Wright Medical Technology and Vice President Business Development for Alphatech Manufacturing. In 2000, Mr. Mayer founded Petra Surgical Solutions, a sales management and business development company representing Hand Innovations, an upper extremity company, and Centerpulse Orthopedics. While at Centerpulse he was once again appointed to serve in a leadership capacity on the President’s Agents Advisory Board. Mr. Mayer currently is the Vice President of Sales Execution for Tornier, www.tornier.com who acquired DVO Extremity Solutions LLC in a private transaction which was completed on March 21, 2007.

Ross Mack
Mr. Mack started working with Dr. Clark developing products over four years ago and was instrumental in the start-up and early success of VOT. He was a senior design engineer for a Valparaiso manufacturing firm for 18 years where he had responsibility for design and manufacturing of various products. He has taught in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Valparaiso University the past five years as a Visiting Instructor. Ross has a BSME from Valparaiso University in Indiana.

Mark Morrison, J.D.
Mr. Morrison is a licensed patent attorney with a decade of experience working with major orthopedic companies in Warsaw, IN. In addition to having developed and implemented strategies for the prosecution, maintenance and protection of corporate intellectual property, he has over 20 years experience in the evaluation of intellectual property. Mark manages the corporate intellectual property and obtains patent protection for the ongoing stream of innovative designs. He has a BS from the University of Michigan, MS in Biological Science from John Carroll University and a J.D. from Cleveland State University.

Bix Benson
Mr. Benson is a partner with the mergers and acquisition firm of Ruffolo Benson, LLC of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and a partner in two angel funds: The Main Street Venture Fund, LLC of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Plymouth Venture Partners I, LLC of Ann Arbor, Michigan. Bix has more than 30 years experience in commercial banking, business law, litigation and mergers and acquisitions. He has been engaged in the active private practice of law, specializing in business law, administrative law and civil litigation. Bix serves on the Board of Directors of New Era Ohio, LLC and The HF Group, LLC. He received his BA degree from the University of Michigan, his J.D. degree from the University of Maryland and his M.B.A. from the University of Michigan.
